Glentoran secured their place in the semi-finals of the Women’s Irish Cup with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Linfield at the Blanchflower Stadium. The match was highlighted by Naomi McLaughlin’s impressive performance, as she netted both goals for Glentoran.

The game began with both teams showing determination, but it was McLaughlin who broke the deadlock in the 36th minute, giving Glentoran the lead. Linfield responded with resilience, and Cora Chambers managed to equalise, setting up a tense second half.

As the clock ticked down, McLaughlin once again found the back of the net with just eight minutes remaining, ensuring Glentoran’s progression to the final four. This victory marks a significant achievement for Kim Turner’s side as they continue their quest for cup glory.

Cliftonville and Crusaders Also Advance

Elsewhere, holders Cliftonville comfortably advanced to the semi-finals with a 3-0 win over Derry City. An early own goal set the tone for the match, followed by strikes from Teegan Lynch and Louise McDaniel, securing Cliftonville’s place in the next round.

Crusaders Strikers also booked their semi-final spot with a 2-1 victory over Sion Swifts at Seaview. Ali Nelson opened the scoring for the Premiership side, and Rebecca Bassett doubled their lead. Although Caoimhe Heron pulled one back for the Swifts, Crusaders held firm to progress.

Completing the semi-final lineup, Lisburn edged past Ballymena United with a narrow 1-0 win, rounding off an exciting round of fixtures in the Women’s Irish Cup.
