Hibernian Secure Loan Deal for Jacob Devaney
Published
Hibernian have bolstered their midfield options by securing a season-long loan deal for Jacob Devaney from Manchester United. The Scottish Premiership club also holds an option to make the move permanent at the end of the season.
Devaney’s Rising Profile
The 19-year-old midfielder, who has already made a mark in Scottish football during a previous loan spell with St Mirren, is expected to bring both talent and experience to the Hibs squad. Last season, Devaney made 18 appearances for St Mirren, showcasing his ability to adapt to the demands of the Premiership.
Born in Barnsley, Devaney has been with Manchester United since the age of six, progressing through their youth ranks. He made his Under-18 debut at just 15 and has since been involved in pre-season matches, including a standout performance against Rosenborg where he scored in a 5-0 victory.
International Experience
Devaney’s international credentials are equally impressive. He first represented Ireland at the Under-19 level and made his Under-21 debut against Croatia last year. His footballing pedigree is further highlighted by his father, Martin Devaney, who also played for Ireland at the underage level.
Hibernian’s Ambitions
The addition of Devaney is seen as a strategic move by Hibernian to strengthen their squad with young, promising talent. The club’s management expressed their excitement about the signing, noting Devaney’s technical skills and his previous experience in the Scottish league as key factors in their decision.
As the season progresses, Hibernian will be keen to integrate Devaney into their setup, hoping his presence will contribute to their ambitions in the league. The option to make the move permanent underscores their belief in his potential to become a long-term asset for the club.
For Devaney, this loan spell represents an opportunity to gain valuable first-team experience and further his development, with the ultimate aim of securing a regular spot at Manchester United in the future.
